Acrylic activity chambers

Manufactured by AccuScan Instruments
Sourced in United States

Acrylic activity chambers are enclosed transparent containers designed for housing and observing small laboratory animals. They provide a controlled environment for monitoring and recording the movement and behavior of the animals.

Assessing Spontaneous Locomotor Activity

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The spontaneous locomotor activity was assessed as described previously (Bhardwaj et al., 2012 (link)), using acrylic activity chambers (AccuScan Instruments Inc., Columbus, OH, USA; L × W × H = 40 × 40 × 30 cm) in a dimly lit room. The chambers area was equipped with infrared sensors. Animals were brought from their home environment to the testing room and immediately placed in the activity boxes where their activity was monitored during the next 60 min. Data was collected using the Versamax Software. The total horizontal activity in the whole session (60 min) was used to analyze the locomotor behavior.

Spontaneous Locomotor Activity Monitoring

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The spontaneous locomotor activity was measured as described previously [21] using acrylic activity chambers (AccuScan Instruments, Inc., Columbus, OH, USA) (L×W×H=17.5×10×26 cm) in a dimly lit room. The chamber arenas were equipped with infrared sensors; beam breaks by the animals were used to assess locomotor activity. Data were collected using the Versamax Software (version 4.0, 2004; AccuScan Instruments, Inc.). Animals were placed in the activity boxes where their spontaneous locomotor activity was monitored during next 90 min. The total horizontal distance traveled for the whole 90 min session was used in the analysis.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
